VETERINARY SPINAL MANIPULATION THERAPY

The foundation of the body is the spine, which is made up of vertebrae, muscles, ligaments, cartilage and nerves. Misalignments in the spine can affect nerve and muscle function, resulting in pain or decreased function to that part of the body.

VSMT is used to correct misalignments in the spine, restoring motion to the spine, and proper nerve and muscle function. It can decrease pain, increase performance, movement, and well being.

A subluxation or misalignment can occur with trauma, over-exertion, or just normal “wear and tear” of everyday life. Correcting the misalignment(s), by performing an adjustment, will allow the body to work at full function and heal itself. The adjustments are gentle and low force, but have a large positive impact on overall health of the animal. Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy allows the body to perform at its best, resulting in better overall health. A variety of animals and conditions respond well to spinal manipulation therapy. It is a natural, drug free, addition to your pet’s total health care program.

Dr. Sandra Miller completed her certification in Spinal Manipulation Therapy in 2003, through the Healing Oasis Wellness Center. In her experience, chronic arthritis and hip dysplasia cases respond the best to this treatment, allowing a lower dose of pain killers to be used in these painful conditions. But, animals that compete in high level competition also benefit greatly from routine adjustments.

Dr Miller has been taking care of our dogs for over 10 years. I not only see her as a caring professional but also as a friend now. I love that she uses eastern (holistic)and western medicine when needed. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about species appropriate diets and always takes the time to listen and figure out the best plan of care. We have utilized laser treatments and chiropractic care when needed. The staff is always friendly and professional. My dogs have out-lived their life expectancies with that all Creature Comforts has to offer!

Dr Miller has the unique ability to combine conventional care with alternative care.  Having a dog who needed both, I was able to see how acupuncture could assist with pain management and nerve damage. Currently she is using stem cell replacement too. Dr Miller also has great knowledge of foods best suited for pets, and shares this knowledge through classes.
